Purpose
I am a person who likes active sports and loves to travel. Last year I traveled across the country several times, spent a week in Colorado skiing epic snow conditions and spent nearly a month on the west coast roaming up and down hwy 1. I often wanted to share my adventures with friends and family but didn’t have an effective way of doing so. I needed a way to tie pictures and posts together, and make them world readable and published in an attractive format. Facebook came the closest, but the limited audience and inability to cleanly tie posts and pictures together into one package was a turn-off.
By using an open source software package like WordPress on my hosting space I am hoping to eventually extend this site beyond the blogging basics by tying posts to locations that can be viewed on a google map, tie posts to specific photos in my gallery, and create custom rss feeds.
Finally, this takes care of one my longest running New Years Resolutions, to create a personal site of some sort on the hosting space and domain I have been maintaining without using for 3+ years now!
